Ridiculously Fancy Shoulder-Duster Earrings

Okay, my dears, a very simple DIY today.  This is gonna be quick, indulgent and cheap, exactly how I like my...well, hmm, I forgot what I was going to say.

Behold these long filigree earrings.

Long enough to dust your shoulders.  If you have dusty shoulders.  Or maybe that's snow.  Certainly not dandruff.  Snow, that's what it is!

Made from a dollar store jelly headband.

Read on for the ridiculously simple tutorial.

Trim the edges from the headband.  Then cut straight across on either side of the center - pick a spot where you think the filigree will be the right length for your shoulder-dusters.  Like so:

Now trim around the top of the filigree to create a loop.

If you have a headband without a natural loop like this, you can simply make a hole at the top of your piece.  Sewing scissors, a hole punch or even a  thumbtack will work.

Open and close two jump rings to attach the filigree to an earwire...

Done!

I guarantee, you will look so very fancy in these!  If they are too much for your taste, or you have no neck to speak of (ahem - I resemble that remark), just cut them shorter for a still-beautiful, more restrained pair of baubles.

Source note: for a couple of years now, I have found these headbands repeatedly at 99 Cents Only, in a bunch of very cute colors.  So they are possibly a bit of a regular item there.

That's yer DIY - hope you enjoyed!

Hey, sorry I've been away from the blog - too much going on in the outside world.  If I'm not back for a while, happy happy HAPPY holidays, everybody!

Much love, Mich
