Utensil strength! Part one: torpedo pendants.

Consider the humble plastic utensil. I picked up a handful at a yard sale last weekend.

Go get some of your own. Thrift store? Garage sale? Better yet, how about a good old fashioned rummage through your own kitchen drawers? Got 'em? Great.

So how would you like to turn them into jewelry? Of course, what you make will depend on whichever wacky utensils you happen to find. But I thought I'd show you some examples.

My husband helped, with this little Japanese pull saw. (He says you can get one at any hardware store; you could also use a regular old hacksaw.)

Rrr-Rrrrrr-rrrr! Deconstruct those utensils! They cut like buttah. It took less than a minute to saw through each one.

Here are some of the resulting bits - the ones from the spoon and the ice cream scoop.


So what became of said bits? Using the long, straight pieces, I made three of what I guess I'd call 'torpedo' or 'bullet' pendants. Here's how they turned out:
