...into jewelry. Part deux: what to do with that second item from the top? Who knows what the heck it is - some kind of slotted spatula, I guess. First, I cut it in half. (See yesterday's post for tips on deconstructing plastic utensils.)
Hmm. Challenging.
I started off really well, by taking the top half into the shower and crooning Frank Sinatra songs into it at the top of my lungs. So refreshing!
Then I took another look at the other half, the long straight handle. And I remembered these tiki forks:
Regular readers may recall the faux bakelite earrings they became.
It turns out, the Sinatra-microphone-spatula thing is exactly the same color. So I snipped up some tiki forks with a wire cutter.
Then I arranged the tiki bits on the spatula handle, and glued them down with my trusty E6000.
And voila - a kinda nifty, very bakelite-looking pendant!
Then I added some thrift store chain and vintage charms...
Look! Tiki necklace!
I am pretty happy with this. Here's a photo with a t-shirt so you can see the scale; yes, it's big, but it's quite light and easy to wear.
Once I get Frank Sinatra out of my system, I'll try to come up with a project for the microphone half. Until then...you'll have to excuse me...
(crooning) "Fly me to the moon, and let me live among the stars..."
